To support the shopper experience during the holidays, Williams-Sonoma said that it would emphasize the health and safety of its associates and customers.
The company will offer contactless curbside pickup and have a dedicated online order pickup station outside the store so employees can assist customers in a quick and timely manner. Stores will position check out registers toward the entrance where top gift picks will be located to allow fast and efficient checkout. They will use waiting list apps so customers can check-in and reserve a spot in line, and so leave and return when their pick-up time arrives.
Williams-Sonoma also will provide online order pickup at UPS Access Point locations and private shopping appointments outside of normal store operating hours for customers who may be health compromised. Employees will continue to serve customers via virtual services such as Ask the Experts and Design Chat, especially regarding Thanksgiving or holiday decorating, recipe planning and cooking tips. Also, the company will dedicate more employees at each store to phone services including taking orders.
At the same time, Williams-Sonoma will strictly adhere to social distancing limitations and heightened cleaning protocols in all its stores. It will require employees to pass a wellness health check prior to each shift daily and wear facial masks for their protection.
“We know how important the holidays are to our customers. It is a time to connect and celebrate with loved ones, especially in a year that has been challenging like no other. We are adapting to our customers’ evolving needs and focusing on helping them enjoy their time at home this holiday season,” said Laura Alber, Williams-Sonoma president and CEO.
