Chicago, IL-based The Wooden Spoon will celebrate its 16 years in business on Dec. 7. To mark the occasion, the store donated all proceeds from a recent cooking class to Friends of Peirce, a local fundraising organization.
On the shop’s Facebook page, the retailer stated, “They say it takes a village to raise a child. Well, The Wooden Spoon is our baby and Andersonville has been our village for nearly 16 years. We’re giving back to say thank you.”
The Wooden Spoon was founded in 2002 and is owned by Trina and Sean Sheridan. The duo and their staff work to make the store a community center of sorts, hosting comedy night cooking classes as well as creating classes for more serious chefs.
