The Spice Way, a European shop with locations in Germany and London, has come to the U.S. The first American store is located in Encinitas, CA and owned by Debbie Kornberg.
The Spice Way opened for business on April 9, 2015 and, according to Kornberg. Influenced by her grandmother, according to the Seaside Courier, Kornberg explored ethnic foods while in college and stumbled upon The Spice Way.
While The Spice Way carries pantry staples, it is known for the variety of blends it sells. There are blends to add to rices and pastas as well as dry rubs for meats, and others that create bold dips.
The store has a kitchen and Kornberg also uses different spices to create new tasting opportunities for customers, from dips to pastas and fruit infusions. She also plans on offering classes starting this summer.
The Spice Way is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Private events are available.
