Conway, AR-based The Kitchen Store & More has raised more than $20,000 for the Conway Regional Perinatal Bereavement program at Conway Regional Medical Center.
The store has been hosting the charity event for the last 11 years after Tricia O’Connor, co-owner of the store, suffered multiple pregnancy losses. O’Connor’s father, Mike Smyers, who owned the store at the time alongside his wife, Jeanne, turned to the program in order to offer support for his daughter, as well as others going through the same thing.
The store has raised thousands of dollars each year, but was hoping to hit the $20,000 mark this year. More than 200 people attended the in-store event that was held in order to support the bereavement program. Other donations were brought in by a raffle, bringing the store just above its goal.
“We feel very fortunate that the community is so supportive of the program and wanting to help families going through a very difficult time in their life,” O’Connor told local media outlet TheCabin.net.
Purchased by Jeanne Smyers in January 2000, The Kitchen Store & More is still family owned and operated with Smyers at the helm and daughter O’Connor overseeing the day-to-day operations.
