The Jay Companies, a manufacturer and importer of fine and casual dinnerware, crystal stemware and giftware, recently acquired Circle Glass, a manufacturer of European and Mediterranean style glassware.
According to David Jay, vp of The Jay Companies, the two companies will continue to operate independently, yet work together to optimize each other’s strengths in order to bring fresh products into the marketplace.
“My father, Harry, president of the company, and Sidney, president of Circle Glass have done business together for years. We saw the opportunity to come together, and utilize each other’s strengths in business and design. We will be a stronger company for it,” he said.
David Jay also stated that Sidney Elmann will remain as president of Circle Glass, however with the acquisition, he will now be able to focus more on working with the sales and design teams, something David Jay said Elmann excels at.
In addition, the acquisition will allow each of the companies to expand their customer base, with the potential for Circle Glass to enter into new categories as well.
Founded in 1950, The Jay Companies said it sources products in Italy, Portugal, Spain, the Czech Republic and Turkey, as well as product from the Far east. Some of the company’s brands and licenses including Fifth Avenue Crystal; American Atelier; Stylesetter; Charge It By Jay; Elle Décor; and Fitz & Floyd.
Meanwhile, Circle Glass was founded in 1982 and manufactures a wide range of glassware including casual, high-end and specialty drinkware; beverage dispensers; serveware; and accessories.
