The Cook Store of Mountain Brooke, based in Birmingham, AL, announced that it has marked 40 years in business.
Opened in 1975 by Sam Franks, the store was originally called The Kitchen Shoppe. Throughout its history, the shop was sold first to Betty Knight who changed the name, and was then sold again in 1999 to Wesley Lassen, who has been running the business for the past 16 years.
“A BIG thanks to all our wonderful customers, employees, and vendors! An even bigger thanks to Sam Franks for starting The Cook Store,” the company said on its Facebook page.
In addition to featuring items from local artists, The Cook Store of Mountain Brooke carries a range of functional cooking supplies from kitchen accessories, gadgets, unique gifts, baskets, and placemats, and is a member of Gourmet Catalog.
“This is a phenomenal feat to thrive in our industry for such a substantial amount of time,” noted Gourmet Catalog on its Facebook page.
