Tess’ Kitchen Store, located in Grass Valley, CA, will be getting a new owner. According to local media outlet The Union, previous owner Steve Rosenthal will be passing the torch on to Penny Short, to whom he recently sold the business to. Rosenthal purchased Tess’ from Rita Burns, who converted the shop from a cards and gift shop into a housewares store, in 2010.
Under Rosenthal’s tenure, he relocated the store to a larger location. Since, then, it has become the largest cooking store in the Sierra Foothills, with three floors of retail space, a cooking school, and a restaurant-quality kitchen, according to The Union. Short has been the general manager of the store since April 2019 and said she will continue with the growth that Rosenthal has started.
Tess’ has been open since 1931.
