Scottsdale, AZ-based Sweet Basil Gourmetware and Cooking School has marked its 25th anniversary this year.
The store, which originally opened in 1993, is owned by Martie Sullivan. It began selling kitchenware and housewares, but soon expanded so that Sullivan could add cooking classes. Now, the store also boasts a market café, which serves food and bakery items that are made in-house, as well as a coffee club.
“Martie Minneman Sullivan launched a labor of love and opened Sweet Basil Gourmetware & Cooking School. Her first location was 3 doors south of the current location in a much smaller space. In 1998 she expanded to the much larger current location and eventually added the Market Cafe. With lots of hard work and the help of many wonderful store, school & cafe staff, Sweet Basil has grown,” was posted on the store’s Facebook page.
