GC Buying Group recently hosted members and vendors for its annual Summer School meeting. The event took place at AmericasMart Atlanta during the Atlanta International Gift + Home Furnishings Market.
“GC Summer School was another successful event for our group. When it comes to education, nothing compares to the small classroom settings that allow stores and vendors to learn from each other,” said Janis Johnson, president and founder of GC Buying Group. “After learning firsthand about specific products and processes, store owners and buyers are armed with renewed confidence for going home and making the sale on the featured products. The personal training knowledge easily converts to a deliverable message for their own staff.”
According to the group, more than 100 kitchenware retailers and manufacturers gathered to participate in GC’s exclusive series of interactive styled lectures and classroom courses, covering everything from product introductions and demonstrations to in-depth training.
“I love the more in-depth product knowledge I get at the GC Summer School. The vendor presentations I really look forward to are the ones that really go deep into a few items, instead of quickly covering their whole line. The more fully I know their key items, the better I can demo the product in store, and the better I can teach my staff,” said Steve Fricke, owner of Cooks’Wares in Cincinnati, OH.
Vendors, too, noted that the setting was helpful, enabling them to get face time with retailers and teach them how to maximize sales with their product offerings.
“The Gourmet Catalog Summer School provided us with the perfect platform to educate stores on how Jura can enhance their business. Gourmet independent stores are in the unique position to maximize sales and increase profits by providing excellent service along with the best cup of coffee,” said David Shull, svp/sales and marketing for Jura.
