Conway, SC will soon see the opening of a new independent housewares and gourmet food shop, named Succotash Gourmet Shop. According to local media outlet MyrtleBeachOnline.com, the store is set to open early next month and will offer gourmet foods, cheeses, craft beer and wine and kitchenware. Additionally, there will be cooking classes offered for both kids and adults.
“We’re just excited to offer a place where friends, couples can come together and hangout. They can get to know each other better and get to know us,” said Melissa Woriax, a former health care employee, who owns the store with her husband, Fred, an Air Force flight surgeon.
The news outlet noted that downtown Conway, where the store is opening, is currently going through a revitalization and has welcomed several new businesses to the area. Succotash Gourmet Shop will highlight some of the historical building aspects, the storeowners said, as they worked to design the store around them, including reintroducing exposed brick walls. The building that houses the store was built in 1901.
