Jan Dane, owner of Providence, RI-based Stock Culinary Goods, was recently featured in local news outlet Boston Voyager. In the article, Dane dished on her career prior to opening Stock Culinary Goods, as well as some of the hardships she has dealt with while owning the store and some innovative ideas and unique programs she has implemented in order to continue growing her business.
“Each day as I passed a long-empty storefront on a street known for its interesting shops and independent spirit, I thought, I wish I were going to work… there. Of course, there was nothing there. So it took a few months for me to even formulate which of my many interests I was fantasizing about. But the notion that kept resurfacing was that Providence needed a full service, independent kitchen store,” she told Boston Voyager.
Stock Culinary Goods has been open for six years. It is known for its selection of local products and its collaboration with the Rhode Island School of Design, welcoming many of the goods the students make into her shop.
