Cat Sadler, owner of Kitchen a la Mode in South Orange, NJ, is continually looking for new ways to expand her presence and revenue stream. One of these is participating in a General Store Cooperative, one town over from South Orange in Maplewood, NJ.
Sadler told TapInto.net that she was surprised that many Maplewood residents were unfamiliar with Kitchen a la Mode as well as Sadies, the clothing and lifestyle store she also owns. Sadler then decided to become an anchor tenant in the neighborhood’s General Store Cooperative, a 3,000 square-foot retail location that houses wares from different independent retail outlets.
“It’s a great community of women,” Fisher told TapInto.net of her fellow vendors. “It allows us to share experiences and strengths.”
Sadler purchased the 10-year-old housewares store last October from industry veteran Ben Salmon. Since then, she has settled into the business, putting her stamp on the retail outlet.
“There were always so many unique products and a warm welcome every time you walked in the door,” Fisher said. “Those are the main things to love about Kitchen a la Mode.”
