Sioux Falls, SD-based Plum’s Cooking Company recently hosted the local chapter of the Boys & Girls Club for its Power Chef Cooking Camp, a two-week long event.
According to the retailer’s Facebook page, the hour long classes are to designed to teach kids the benefits of gardening and how to prepare that food to provide a full-circle learning experience. Of the cooking camp, the retailer stated “We love opening our kitchen up to the community!”
In one local article, the Boys & Girls Club said that it hopes classes can help low-income students make healthier choices by safely teaching them the skills they need to explore food preparation in the home.
Plum’s Cooking is currently owned by Penny Klinedinst. She purchased Plum’s from Caroline Peterson in 2016 upon her retirement. Peterson ran the business for 30 years.
