The Cupboard is celebrating its 43rd anniversary this month. The Fort Collins, CO-based store, currently run by second-generation owner Jim Hewitt, has not only become a community staple in that time, but also inspired friends to open their own store, The Coastal Cupboard, miles away in tribute.
In a recent interview with GOURMET INSIDER, Hewitt said that his dad, Carey, created the footprint for the business and it was something he became excited after some time away from the industry. Now, Carey stays active in the day-to-day activities of the store but has really let Hewitt take the helm and grow the business. The Cupboard now employs 25 people.
“We are so thankful for you welcoming us, being able to serve you & allowing us in your homes for 43 years. Stop in for the ‘giving tree,’ cutlery sale, event, tastings, giveaways, a Le Creuset trunk show and more! With Love, The Hewitts, Cupboard Staff & Family,” the store wrote on its Facebook page.
To celebrate the milestone, the store held a Giving Tree event in which the first 43 people that visited the store picked something off the tree. Prizes ranged from “Cupboard money” to discounts.
