Iowa City, IA will welcome a new addition to the retail landscape in April 2020 when Prairie Kitchen Store is set to open its doors. The new store is owned by husband and wife duo, Kevin and Susan Felker, as well as their son, Alex.
“We want to help make your kitchen a happy place,” Kevin Felker said in a written statement. “We value durable, hard working, and useful products; and we want entertaining family and friends to be easier, and more enjoyable.”
Prairie Kitchen Store will feature a variety of global and American made kitchen tools, cookware and tabletop serveware for entertaining, along with organic and small-batch specialty food items and unique gifts. Additionally, the owners plan to promote product lines will prioritize design, artisan craftsmanship and Fair Trade practices. In addition to retail store hours, the store will offer cooking demonstrations, classes and other social events.
“The fit and feel of the store will be welcoming and casual, with urban and modern design elements,” added Susan Felker. “We’ll have wood display tables, galvanized pipe shelving, and reclaimed wood and brick accents. Colors will be eclectic and bright, tapping into the Northside’s bohemian nature. The store will reflect the energy and creativity that occurs when we all gather over a great meal.”
While the store will officially open in 2020, there will be a holiday pop-up shop held to get area residents and potential customers familiar with the products as well as the owners themselves. It will be held on December 7 and December 8 at another local store, Textiles.
