Rochester, NY-based Cooks’ World marked 40 years in business this year. While the store took part in several different celebrations during the year, including giveaways and a big 40th anniversary bash, the store also planned to give back to the community that sustained it during the last 40 years.
Owner Chris Wiedemer recently announced that to celebrate the store’s 40th year, it recently held a month-long silent auction. The result was a $5,115.78 donation to Foodlink, he said, after auctioning off a collection of cooking, baking and cutlery essentials. He explained that 100% of the proceeds supporting Foodlink’s fight against hunger.
Foodlink, also based in Rochester, NY, is a community food resource center and the Feeding America food bank serving Allegany, Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Wayne, Wyoming, and Yates counties.
