The team at Forty One Madison is deep in the planning stages for the April New York Tabletop Market, which runs April 2 to 5.
According to Kristi Forbes, director/senior vp of Forty One Madison, the spring market will embrace the consumer trends it sees emerging in the new year, such as bold and vibrant color, colored glass, new textures, as well nature-inspired motifs. In addition, market attendees can expect wellness and personalization to continue to be strong themes. These trends, said Forbes, will have a broad presence among the market’s vendor showrooms.
Forbes also said that plans are in the works to help increase retail traffic to the market, as it is putting new programs into place to broaden its retail reach.
“In 2019, we are creating new retailer programs to attract more regional independent retailers and buying groups to incentivize them to attend the April and October tabletop markets,” she said.
Forbes also said that although Forty One Madison has been a tabletop destination in the past, the market is putting new emphasis on how tabletop can be combined with other housewares goods for a total package. These market initiatives, too, will speak to how consumers are looking for products that are able to fit their lifestyle demands.
“There is a lot of opportunity for crossover with housewares. As consumer needs have changed and casual living and dining has become increasingly prevalent, brands now need to provide a more comprehensive lifestyle experience in order to stay competitive. Housewares and tabletop are both a natural match and many companies are growing their offerings in both categories,” she said.
Rolling into its April Tabletop show, Forbes said that the market has put several new initiatives in place to help drive traffic to Forty One Madison. One of these, she said, is the continued partnership with industry influencers. She said the Tabletop Market has plans to grow the Tastemaker Takeover series on the Forty One Madison Instagram, where tabletop experts scout and share their favorite new products.
Additionally, there will be more newness at the April 2019 show, said Forbes. The Oneida Group will expand and open up a new showroom on the 10th floor, while Mepra will open up its new showroom on the 22nd floor. Revol has expanded its presence at the NY Tabletop market and will be opening its new showroom on the 19th floor during the spring market. Visitors will also be able to see additional showrooms such as Darbie Angell, Annieglass, Morhauser and R Squared/Zrike Brands.
Forty One Madison will also partner with Flower Magazine to produce lobby installations for the April market.
