The National Retail Federation has promoted Carleen Kohut, chief operating officer, to executive vice president and chief operating officer.
NRF president and CEO Matthew Shay noted that much of the work Kohut already undertakes on behalf of the organization exceeds her COO responsibilities.
“Throughout her time with NRF and as our chief operating officer, Carleen has played a leading role in shaping outcomes for the organization and our members on every single issue of consequence,” said Shay. “From the trajectory of our membership numbers and growing attendance at Retail’s BIG Show and Shop.org’s Digital Summit, to the increased advocacy footprint and the doubling of our annual operating budget, Carleen has elevated the profile of NRF.”
Kohut joined NRF in 2000 as the association’s chief financial officer and was named chief operating officer in 2011. Prior to joining NRF, Kohut served as a CFO and senior financial executive for trade associations in the telecommunications and natural gas industries. She also served as a supervisor in Ernst & Young’s public utility group.
