Litchfield, CT-based Kitchenworks and Gourmet Gifts is marking its 40th business anniversary this year. The store, which opened in May 1979, is now owned by Liz Eriksen, who purchased it in 2008.
“In our modern era of online shopping, it is a privilege to still be in business and supported by loyal customers,” Eriksen recently told The Litchfield County Times, a local media outlet.
According to Eriksen, the store carries an array of kitchen tools and gadgets which attracts customers, however, one of the best-selling categories at Kitchenworks is dish towels. Eriksen also offers eco-friendly goods, such as reusable silicone food storage bags, bees wax wraps and stainless steel drinking straws, among others, for those who are environmentally conscious and want to reduce their carbon footprint, as well as lifestyle-based items like soaps, lotions and leather goods.
“I like to change up what we offer in the store. I regularly attend trade shows to find unique and different items. You never know what new thing you’ll discover when you come in,” she told the news outlet.
