South Orange, NJ-based Kitchen a la Mode is all in when it comes to sustainability. The independent gourmet housewares retail store is launching a “take a bag, leave a bag” program, designed to ensure those who want reusable bags can have them, and those who have an excess have a place to recycle them.
“Did you forget your reusable bag? Do you have a bunch you don’t know what to do with? We are launching a Take-a-Bag/Leave-a-Bag program,” was posted on the store’s Facebook page.
According to the post, any additional excess reusable bags will be donated to a local hunger relief network dubbed MEND (Meeting Essential Needs with Dignity). The bags will be for their clients to use at the food pantry.
“You can bring any bags you would like to donate to Kitchen a la Mode or Sadie’s,” the post continued.
