International Market Centers (IMC) has launched Atlanta Next, which constitutes a multi-stage capital and strategic investment plan to transform the AmericasMart Atlanta business through enrichment of all product categories and improvements to all buildings across its 7.2 million-square-foot campus.
Stage 1 begins with home category enhancements including a renovation of the Building 1 lobby, remerchandising of the home décor and open daily resources, and the finalization of strategic coordination between the downtown Atlanta AmericasMart and the cross-town Atlanta Decorative Arts Center (ADAC) in what will become a dual-venue, comprehensive design destination, IMC stated.
The complete remodel of the Building 1 lobby will establish an efficient and inspirational arrival experience for buyers and exhibitors entering AmericasMart. The lobby will incorporate a flexible lounge, meeting and workspaces, a newly configured registration area, premium showroom space and digital signage all connected via a new escalator to the second floor. Amenities improvements will include a new full-service restaurant and a new grab-and-go café to supplement the existing Starbucks location.
To facilitate operations in the open-daily marketplace, IMC will add a new reception desk, which will welcome designers and provide assistance during visits. It also will help streamline the registration process and provide information on the full slate of events happening throughout the year.
IMC noted that it would provide an additional boost to the designer experience at AmericasMart through the collaboration with ADAC. The sister design centers will collaborate to promote both campuses in their combined role as a comprehensive design destination beginning with the September 2019 Fall Design Week and Discover ADAC event.
A previously introduced buyer services team and Atlanta call center will support the newly detailed AmericasMart initiatives. The buyer services team features category specialists tasked with supporting key and national accounts across IMC’s three nationwide campuses, including facilities in Las Vegas and High Point, NC. Five Atlanta-based full-time call center representatives provide buyer outreach emphasizing one-to-one contact with key retailers and designers.
“IMC is making investments to elevate the market experience and deliver more value to our customers,” said Bob Maricich, IMC CEO. “This multi-stage plan begins with the home décor category. Initiatives supporting our gift and apparel offerings are also in development and will be announced soon.”
Work on the Building 1 lobby will begin immediately after the summer 2019 market, with major updates completed by winter 2020. The company slated the final lobby unveiling for winter 2021.
