HTI Buying Group announced that the retail association had a successful start to the year with its membership at the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market, which took place from Jan. 20 to Jan. 26, 2016.
The Buying Group said that it set record attendance at the show, which, in part, was because of the new members that joined the group after the June show. However, HTI also signed 16 new members in January, and some of those members were signed up at the show.
For the first time, HTI held a vendor showcase. Vendors were able to show new products to retailers and the two had time to ask questions and interact with one another on a more intimate basis. Additionally, there were two keynote presentations at the event. KC Lapiana, president of HTI, discussed assortment fundamentals, analysis of square footage and the utilization of promotions. Michelle Adams of Marketing Brainology joined the group and discussed key insights and trends in shopper behavior; along with relevant strategies and recommendations to address these trends.
Counseling sessions, several walk the show tours and scouting reports, in which retailers shared insights into the products shown on the show floor, also took place at the member meeting.
