Honeycomb Kitchen Shop Brings In-Store Experience Home

Honeycomb Kitchen Shop, based in Rogers, AR, knows how important the customer experience is. The store’s selection of cooking classes that sell out quickly, as well as the constant support they give to their cooking class customers behind the scenes, are a testament to this.

However, with the COVID-19 pandemic shutting down retail operations and keeping people home, owners Melissa Turpin and Dana Smith decided to take an in-store experience and make it into something customers could do at home.

The duo put together a boozy chocolate pairing and hosted a chocolate board making class via Zoom, which taught their customers how to design a charcuterie-like dessert board while they sipped on brewed cocoa or the boozy beverage pairing of their choice, which the store helped curate.

“We put together a chocolate kit that included all the chocolate and pairing ingredients so they could build a grazing board along with us. Then they stopped by the shop and we brought the kit out to them curbside. We suggested wines and beers that would pair nicely with the board ingredients for them to pickup if they wanted on their own,” said Turpin, co-owner, Honeycomb Kitchen Store.

And this isn’t the only spin on cooking classes the store has been doing. Customers who want to take virtual classes with Honeycomb Kitchen Shop during the pandemic can do so with all of the materials provided by the store itself. And, added Turpin, this has also been a boost for product sales as well.

“Right now, customers stop by the shop to pick up their food kits for any of our online cooking classes. It has worked out nicely because we offer them a discount code for taking a class. Most place an order for product using the discount and pick it up the same time they get their food kits,” she said.
