Gourmet Groups Take Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS— The launch of C11 at the summer Las Vegas Market was met largely with positive reviews from product suppliers who said they are watching the efforts of show organizers to attract additional vendors and gourmet housewares stores to the biannual event.

Market officials said that about 25% of showroom space on the 11th floor of Building C was filled, with most of that space occupied by sales representative organizations featuring multiple product lines. The goal for show officials is to double occupied C11 showroom space by the January 2016 market and to increase that to 75% by the August 2016 show.

During the market, HTI Buying Group and Gourmet Catalog & Buying Group each led its retail members on tours of showrooms where a variety of companies were displaying gourmet housewares products. The retailers were able to meet with key vendor representatives while also getting a firsthand look at new products and show specials.

“HTI’s ‘Walk The Show’ initiative, created in January 2013, supports retailers and vendors by encouraging the importance of developing and furthering their personal and financial commitments to each other,” said KC Lapiana, president of HTI. “Group introductions lead by HTI personnel not only helps with these commitments but also provides a platform for education, product and trend knowledge and networking,” she added.
