Gina DeSantis Ceramics will make it’s NY Now debut at the upcoming market held in New York, where the company will unveil new dinnerware and home decor designs.
Most of the collections are made up of hand thrown pieces by the company’s namesake founder and ceramics artist, Gina DeSantis. In addition to growing her business, DeSantis said her goal is to introduce her work to a new audience and show the country that Cleveland is a leader in ceramic arts.
“People still discount Cleveland,” said DeSantis. “We have a rich culture of arts in Northeast Ohio, yet many places in the country still don’t know about our many artists and artisans, and I want to change that.”
For this show, DeSantis has revamped her current collections, as well as prepared some new lines for the show. New soft glazes in pink and new dinnerware lines will be the focus at NY Now, including the new Sandstone, Halite and Basalt dinnerware lines.
New textures highlight the Sandstone line, which features a chic, rustic farmhouse look. The Halite line features fresh new designs in porcelain with a gloss white finish, and the Basalt line introduces the use of a black stoneware clay and mixes unique textures and matte finishes that are almost metallic in finish, she said.
“I am really proud of this new line,” said DeSantis. “I think it will be well received in New York. It speaks to where I am going as an artist, while offering a unique product for the customer.”
