Focus Products Group has told HOMEWORLD BUSINESS® that it has acquired wine and spirit aerator developer and marketer Vinturi Inc. The wine accessories company will be added to Focus’ housewares group that includes brands such as Chicago Metallic, Amco Houseworks, Swing-A-Way and Xtraordinary Home Products. Terms of the deal were not reported.
Vinturi Inc., based in Carlsbad, CA, debuted its first aerator, the Vinturi Red Wine Aerator, in 2007. The aerator has a patent-pending design that is said to speed up the breathing process by aerating in the time it takes to pour a glass of wine, according to the company. The company has grown its wine accessories assortment with a number of other products, including a white wine aerator, the Vinturi Tower, the Vinturi Spirit and more.
“Vinturi has invented a category and holds various patents for useful products. Its line of high-end aerators and accessories fit well with our brands,” said Marc Navarre, president and CEO of Focus Products Group.
At press time, Navarre noted that additional details are to come in regards to the organization and integration of the acquisition. The Vinturi line will be on display at the Focus Housewares Group booth at the International Home + Housewares Show in March.
In addition to its housewares portfolio, Focus Products also has an electrics group that encompasses brands West Bend and Back to Basics. Focus also markets products for bath, hospitality and food service.
