Fante’s Kitchen Shop, a Philadelphia, PA-based independent gourmet kitchen store, will host Reverend Michael Alan and Steven Grasse for a book signing from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 22. The event is in support of their new book “Colonial Spirits: A Toast to Our Drunken History.”
According to the retailer’s website, “Colonial Spirits: A Toast to Our Drunken History” offers a peek into the barrooms and battlefields of the revolution, and a sip from the punch bowls of our ancestors.
The book includes stories behind libations such as tipples to the surprising origins of the American beer, wine, rum and whiskey. The book serves as an almanac of alcohol and the birth of our nation, with lists, charts, and recipes alongside tall tales and folklore.
Fante’s Kitchen Shop has been a staple in Philadelphia’s Italian market since 1906. The family-owned and operated business carries an array of housewares staples, but also specializes in unique goods that serve both the residential home cook and commercial kitchens.
