Etsy, the online handmade goods retailer, has named Ryan Scott chief marketing officer, effective June 24. He will report to company CEO Josh Silverman.
Scott was CMO of Slice, a digital marketplace for pizza ordering, Etsy noted, adding that he has nearly two decades of marketing and e-commerce experience, including leadership roles at Grubhub, SoulCycle and Pond5.
In Etsy’s newly-created CMO position, Scott will have global responsibility for the company’s digital marketing, advertising, brand, communications and market research, as well as international growth initiatives. As such, he will help Etsy scales its brand and performance marketing operations, the company stated.
“He has a terrific track record building and developing world-class, high-performing teams. His skill set is ideally suited to telling the story of what makes Etsy so special through growth initiatives aimed at attracting and building deeper relationships with customers. We couldn’t be more excited to have Ryan join Etsy,” said Silverman.
