Cook’s Illustrated recently named the top kitchen tools and gadgets for vegetarian kitchens. From slicers and graters to peelers, the goods chosen were picked for the time-saving qualities needed when prepping vegetables, according to Cook’s Illustrated.
Named to the list was a Paderno World Cuisine Tri-Blade Plastic vegetable slicer, which has a crank handle and the ability to make a core in the food, so it doesn’t create whole slices as does a mandoline. Kuhn Rikon’s original Swiss peeler was also named to the list for its razor-sharp blade and a ridged guide.
Also on the list was the Kyocera adjustable slicer with handguard; OXO’s Good Grips salad spinner; the Rösle Coarse Grater; CIA’s Masters Collection Fine-Mesh Strainer; Microplane’s Classic Zester Grater; the Stainless Steel Epicurean Garlic Press, also from Kuhn Rikon; OXO’s Good Grips carving and cutting board; a Victorinox 8″ Swiss Army Fibrox Chef’s Knife; and Wüsthof’s Classic with PEtec, 3 1/2-inch knife.
