Based on its design and use of material, Cangshan Cutlery’s TC Series of knives has won a 2018 Red Dot Design Award.
According to the company, the TC Series is made of Swedish Sandvik Steel. The knives’ handles have a slim profile and a singular mosaic rivet. The forged knives also feature a tapered tang which, the company said provides comfort and balance to support precise cutting.
Swedish Sandvik Steel is high-alloy, fine grained steel which can be heat treated to a hardness rating of 60+/- 2 HRC without the common issues of brittleness in the blade. This means Cangshan knives can be sharpened to a precise, keen Asian style, 16 degree angle with edge retention.
The Red Dot award jury of about 40 independent designers, design professors and specialist journalists tested, discussed and assessed each individual product, awarding the Red Dot to products with high design quality. The competition received more than 5,500 entries from 54 countries this year.
