The Barista Touch, the newest addition to Breville’s automatic espresso portfolio, was named “Best New Product” in the consumer electrical category at the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) expo in Seattle.
The win marks the second year in a row that a Breville automatic espresso machine has taken home the first prize at the expo. Last year, the company’s next generation automatic espresso machine, the Oracle Touch, took top honors.
The Barista Touch’s features include a proprietary, self-cleaning steam wand that automatically delivers barista-quality micro-foam; an intuitive touchscreen display to adjust the coffee strength, milk texture and temperature, and then create and save up to eight personalized coffees; and a ThermoJet heating system that heats the water to temperature instantly and allows the machine to start brewing within three seconds after powering on, the company said.
Phil McKnight, Breville’s global business manager, beverage and toast, said, “We are thrilled that the SCA, the country’s most rigorous, independent judge of espresso machines, has recognized the innovations in the Barista Touch and further strengthened our global reputation for excellence in the category. Together, our trio of automatic espresso machines, the Oracle, the Oracle Touch and the Barista Touch, make café-quality coffee accessible to every type of consumer without requiring them to possess the skills of a trained barista.”
