Beatriz Ball has collaborated on a new collection with Louisiana-based ceramicist, Gretchen Murchison. The Bloom collection is scheduled to debut at the winter 2020 markets.
The company said the Bloom Collection is rendered in the company’s sand-cast metal alloy and in melamine and includes sculptural bowls and platters inspired by floral and botanical forms.
“I had seen some of Gretchen’s work in ceramics, and was blown away,” said Beatriz Ball, creative director and designer of the namesake company. “Flowing and organic, her aesthetic is very simpatico with my own. I was so excited when she agreed to collaborate on some new designs for us.”
Ball also said that artisans in Ball’s Mexico-based foundry pour molten aluminum alloy into individual sand molds, and hand polish each item to a deep lustrous finish. There are said to be twelve different sets of hands are involved in the creation of each metal piece that yields a depth of character, warmth and personality, said Ball.
