Anna Pump, cookbook author and partner in the Bridgehampton, NY-based Loaves & Fishes Cookshop, was killed in a traffic accident on Oct. 6. She was 81.
Author of several cookbooks, including “The Loaves and Fishes Cookbook,” first published in 1987, and partner at the Cookshop, she was also a partner in the Bridgehampton Inn and Restaurant.
According to local newspaper Newsday, Pump was struck by a Dodge Dakota driven by Luis Ortega, 40, of Water Mill, while walking near the Bridgehampton Post Office. Pump succumbed to her injuries at a local hospital. Ortega was arrested and charged with circumventing an interlock device, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and failing to yield for a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
