Covington, LA-based Simplee Gourmet has opened a second location in downtown New Orleans.
According to news outlet NOLA.com, the 3000-square-foot shop will include high-end cookware and kitchenware products. The store will also host cooking classes and special events for home cooks and professional chefs.
NOLA.com also reported that classes at Simplee Gourmet will begin on June 1. The first class, “Jazz Fest All Year,” will guide students in re-creating such dishes as Crawfish Monica, boudin balls, crawfish beignets and cochon de lait po-boys. Additional classes will focus on cooking French comfort foods and wine tastings.
The original store opened in 2009 under the ownership of Melissa Marley. Marley calls the store, “a kitchen boutique and venue for recreational culinary classes that will inspire beginner and professional chefs alike.”
