The Housewares Training & Information (HTI) Buying Group’s Second Annual One Voice Conference opened yesterday to increased attendance from both independent retailers and participating vendors. According to Bob Coviello, president and founder of HTI, the number of attending retailers and vendors participating in the showcase event, which followed the educational program, nearly doubled from the inaugural event last year.
Attending retailers received a wide range of information aimed at helping them more effectively run their business, including seminars from Coviello himself who offered detailed and specific guidance for both neophyte and veteran store operators.
In his seminar The Philosophy, The Art & The Science of Buying Coviello took retailers step by step through the process of tracking and analyzing their store performance, stressing the importance of tracking performance frequently and by specific product classification.
Other seminars, were offered on Profitable Promotions, Customer Service and Kitchenware Through The Eyes of an Engineer. Many were structured in roundtable format, with the goal of allowing participants to share their own experiences and pose questions to their peers.
The Vendor Showcase following the educational program enabled attending retailers to get a first glimpse of new offerings from 48 participating vendors.
