Trudeau Corporation plans to use its recent acquisition of Silvermark, a kitchenware supplier, to expand its food prep assortment into cutlery and other kitchenware areas, and become a broader-based supplier for its retail partners.
“Retailers are focused on rationalizing the number of vendors they work with. Offering a wider assortment of better products can only be a plus for us,” said Philippe Trudeau, president of Trudeau.
Silvermark has a complementary food prep assortment that will allow Trudeau to offer a broader selection at retail under Trudeau brands. “Ninety percent of what Silvermark was offering is complementary to what we do,” said Trudeau.
While the Silvermark name is trademarked and could become a potential brand in the future, Trudeau said, the goal is to fold the Silvermark lines under current Trudeau branding. Trudeau plans to do so in early 2012, with a formal launch of the new products at the International Home + Housewares Show in March.
