The Milkweed Mercantile Eco Inn, Organic Cafe & Sundries Shop, in Rutledge, MO, has announced its grand opening in March.
Owner Alline Anderson’s Eco Inn, Organic Café, Green General Store and Seminar Program are housed in a spacious two-story straw bale, solar- and wind-powered building. The open kitchen allows guests to see how their food is being prepared and lets Anderson hold seminars and classes.
The store’s first program will feature an Intensive Fermentation Weekend with Sandor Katz, cultural revivalist and author of Wild Fermentation, in the new kitchen at the Milkweed Mercantile. Over the course of the weekend students will actively participate in the preparation of fairly large batches of ferment.
