Mount Pleasant, SC-based The Coastal Cupboard is hosting its semi-annual charity knife sharpening the weekend of Oct. 13 – 15. The store is also offering customers 20% off of all cutlery purchases (some exclusions apply).
According to Charleston City Paper, a local news source, customers are invited to visit the store to have their knives professionally sharpened. The cost is $1 per knife, with every dollar benefitting The Charleston Basket Brigade, a local non-profit organization. The charity will use the money to provide Thanksgiving meals to those who cannot afford it in the Charleston area.
Of the event, Brad Pitner, owner of The Coastal Cupboard commented, “This is a great opportunity to do something you’ve been thinking of doing all year: sharpening up those kitchen knives. But if you do it this weekend at our store, you can help local families need. This is always a fun and busy charity event, thanks to the support of the community.”
Pitner also stated that while customers are waiting to get their knives sharpened, they can visit interactive stations that will be set up throughout the store. Some of the activities include knife skills demonstrations, food samples and cutlery specials.
